HEARTCORE
Translated and Published by KF Andersen Leadership Academy
Mads Øvlisen was the CEO of Novo Nordisk from 1981 to 2000, and after retiring, he continued as chairman of the board until 2006. He has held board positions in several corporations, including LEGO and the Royal Theatre. Mads Øvlisen has been an advisor to the UN Global Compact, which works with corporations to create a sustainable future with economic growth and prosperity for all stakeholders, introducing ‘The Tripel Bottom Line’ – Profitability – Environmental Quality – Social Responsibility. Leaders as ‘Human Asset Developers’ are about how a company makes money growing assets – not how it spends money afterward!
In 2011, Mads Øvlisen and Mikael Lindholm wrote the Danish edition of this book, summarising Novo Nordisk’s singular leadership practice. The Danish publisher Gyldendal Business published the book ‘Heartcore – Tanker om Ledelse.’
Siegfried W. Andersen, the founder of KFA, found the content singular. It deserved to be translated into English for a broader audience, and the 100th anniversary of Novo Nordisk in 2023 proved to be a perfect occasion to publish such a book.
